HC Deb 17 June 1912 vol 39 c1454W
Mr. LARDNER

asked the Chief Secretary if he can now state the details of the proposed scheme of medical inspection of national school children in Ireland; and whether any communications have been addressed to the local authorities as to the provision of a sum from local sources equivalent to the Treasury Grant, and, if so, with what result?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Commissioners of National Education have had under consideration the establishment of school dental clinics for which the Treasury propose to obtain a Parliamentary Grant of £7.500 for the current financial year. The Commissioners have had conferences with school managers, members of the dental profession, and others on the subject, and the Irish Government await a reply to the communication addressed to the Commissioners with regard to the terms of the Treasury decision.
