HC Deb 13 June 1912 vol 39 cc1191-2W
Mr. NEWMAN

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can give the number of provisional valuations issued and accepted in accordance with the terms of the Finance (1909–10) Act, 1910, as on 1st June, 1912, in Great Britain and Ireland, respectively?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The number of provisional valuations issued up to 31st May last was as follows:—

Great Britain 2,083,730
Ireland 8,800

As I have previously stated, it is not practical to give with accuracy the number of these valuations which have been finally settled.

Mr. NEWMAN

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he can give the number of Forms IV. issued to and returned by owners in Ireland as on 1st June, 1912; and whether any of such forms have been issued in respect of purely agricultural hereditaments?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The number of Forms IV. issued to owners in Ireland up to 1st June, 1912, was 242,000, and the number returned 120,400. I learn that all these forms have been issued in cities and urban districts.

Mr. CASSEL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury how many valuations of hereditaments had, pursuant to Section 30 of the Finance (1909–10) Act, 1910, been recorded as having been valued pursuant to Section 30 of the said Act by the 1st April, 1912?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The number of valuations which had been recorded in the United Kingdom by the 1st April, 1912, was 1,803,968.
