§ Mr. CLANCYasked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to a resolution passed by the Balrothery, county Dublin, Rural District Council in reference to the delay which has taken place in holding an inquiry into the latest improvement scheme formulated by that body under the Labourers (Ireland) Acts; what is the cause of that delay; and when will the inquiry be held?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe resolution in question has been before the Local Government Board and the council have been informed that in order to secure an equitable allocation of the additional £1,000,000, provided by the Labourers Act of 1911, the Board when arranging for local inquiries into new schemes formulated by rural district councils must have due regard to the extent to which the Labourers Acts have already been put into operation in the districts concerned. Subject to this consideration, an inquiry will be ordered to be held as soon as practicable into the scheme made by the council of the Balrothery rural district, in which no less than four hundred and fifty-two cottages have already been provided.
