§ Mr. WILLIAM THORNEasked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that the Liverpool Meat Importers' Association and the Liverpool Abattoir Tenants' Wholesale Meat Traders' Association have passed resolutions intimating that they will not continue to supply meat to shop butchers and traders who open their premises on Sundays on and after 4th August next; and whether, in view of the effect of this action upon small traders and poor people, he intends to take any action?
§ Mr. McKENNAI am aware that action of this kind has been taken in some places by the meat trade, which claims, as I understand, that the great majority of the trade are in favour of Sunday closing. I have no power to take any action in the matter.
