§ Mr. ACLANDThere has been no blockade of the Straits. As to the attack on the Straits, I can only refer to the official communications to the Press by the Turkish and Italian Governments, who alone are cognisant of the facts. According to our latest information, the channel for merchant vessels has not been closed. I hope that such a step will not be made necessary.
