HC Deb 21 February 1912 vol 34 c696W
Mr. PIKE PEASE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury to explain the cause of the corrections necessitating the withdrawal of White Papers Nos. 220 and 221 and the reissue later in the year of amended Papers; whether the errors discovered are of such a nature as to affect earlier issues of these Returns; and, if so, whether any Return will be issued embodying these corrections?

Mr. MASTERMAN

In connection with home-made spirits a mistake was made in the apportionment as between England, Scotland, and Ireland of the arrears of duty proper to 1909–10, but, owing to delay in passing the Finance Bill of 1909, not actually collected till 1910–11. The error did not affect earlier issues of the Returns in question.
