HC Deb 11 December 1912 vol 45 cc477-8W
Mr. O'GRADY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the wages of the mail van drivers (Belfast) range from 17s. 9d. to 21s. 3d. for a week of from 64 to 80 hours; and whether, having regard to the fact that carters in the employ of city (Belfast) firms are paid 24s. per week of 59 hours, steps will be taken to insist that the firm doing the mail van work for the Post Office shall pay an equivalent wage to their drivers?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

I am having inquiry made in the matter, and will communicate with the hon. Member.
