§ Mr. PRINGLEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the 2494W burden which would fall on the funds of approved societies available for purposes, of administration, if they are required to-make payments to insurance committees out of those funds for the cost of the administration of medical benefit, he will be prepared to make a special Grant to meet this cost?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEI have recognised from the beginning the necessity for some further assistance for the administrative expenses of insurance committees, especially in regard to the cost of administration of medical benefit. A Grant has already been voted for initial expenses, and I propose that this Grant shall be continued for the present to the extent of 1½d. per insured person for the expenses of the administration of medical benefit, which will relieve approved societies to that extent of the necessity of contributing.
