Major GUESTasked the Secretary of State for War whether he has considered the various recent developments in wireless telegraphy and the desirability of the more extended application of this science for military uses in the field; and what action he proposes to take in the matter?
§ Colonel SEELYMy attention has been called to the recent remarkable develop-2684W ments in wireless telegraphy, and I have decided to appoint a Committee to consider the application of these developments to the needs of the Army.
The members who have kindly consented to serve on this Committee are:—
- Major R. H. Boys, D.S.O., R.E.
- Mr. E. Russell Clarke, Barrister-at-Law.
- Mr. H. A. Madge, Expert in Wireless Telegraphy, at present in His Majesty's Ship "Vernon."
- Colonel R. D. Whigham, D.S.O., of the General Staff, and
- A General Staff Officer will act as Secretary to the Committee.
I have been fortunate enough to secure the services of my hon. Friend the Member for Blackburn (Sir Henry Norman) as Chairman of the Committee.
