HC Deb 02 April 1912 vol 36 cc1149-50W
Mr. JOWETT

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether the Wandsworth Board of Guardians has applied to him for permission to pay all their non-resident male officers a wage of not less than 30s. per week; and whether he has declined to agree to the proposal on the ground that other boards of guardians, might follow the example of the Wandsworth Board and submit similar applications; and, if this is so, whether he has considered the possibility of a family being housed, fed, and clothed on less than 30s. per week in London?

Mr. BURNS

I may refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to-day to the hon. Member for South West Ham, from which it will be seen that the application of the Wandsworth guardians is still under consideration.
