HC Deb 29 November 1911 vol 32 c555W
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he took to secure that the workmen's representatives on the central trade board for the tailoring trade were really representative of the workmen?

Mr. ROBERTSON

The trade unions were invited to suggest names of representatives, and investigators were also sent to the various districts to obtain names of suitable representatives of workers, including home workers. All the names suggested were carefully considered by the Board of Trade, and every effort was made to secure that the workers' side should be really representative.
