§ Mr. DEVLINasked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether certain Queen's scholars who were in training during the sessions 1898–1900 were, on first appointment as teachers under the National Board, paid at a higher rate of salary than £56 per annum plus residual capitation grant, and, if so, were the Commissioners of National Education surcharged by the Auditor-General the extra amounts paid these teachers; and whether he can state for what reasons these teachers were paid this higher rate of salary?
