§ Captain WARINGasked the Lord Advocate whether the duties of sheriff principal in respect of hearing appeals have become superseded by the practice of passing the sheriff principal and making appeal direct to the Court of Session; whether all the other or administrative 1349W duties of sheriff principal are in fact per formed by the sheriff substitute, with the sole exception of the duties regarding the Northern Lights Commission, Prison Board, and Fishery Board; and, if so, have His Majesty's Government decided; that the administrative duties in question are such as to warrant the retention of the office of sheriff principal?
