I am informed by the Registrar-General for Scotland that, according to the preliminary examination of the returns of the recent Census, the information desired by my right hon. Friend is as follows:—

scheme does not expire until the 11th instant. After that date, as prescribed by Section 14 (12) of the same Act, the Department will proceed to the consideration of the objections and amendments lodged with a view to the preparation of a scheme to be laid before Parliament. The scheme will be laid as soon as possible, but no undertaking as to a precise date can be given at present.
