§ Mr. LANSBURYasked the Home Secretary if his attention has been called to the proposed importation of foreign printers into London by the Master Printers' Association for the purpose of breaking up the strike at present prevailing in the printing trade; if he will bring in a short Bill for the purpose of prohibiting the importation of foreign workpeople into this country for the purpose of taking the place of men or women on strike; and, pending such legislation, will he instruct the immigration officers to be very careful in seeing that in all cases imported workmen comply with all the requirements of the law in respect to alien immigration?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI have no information on the matter indicated in the first paragraph of the question, and, as the hon. Member is doubtless aware, a Bill to restrict such importation was rejected by the House of Lords in 1906. The immigration officers will enforce the Act in the regular manner.
