HC Deb 21 March 1911 vol 23 cc371-2W
Mr. HOLT

asked what is the distance in a bee line from the new artillery range in Northumberland to the War Office property at Stobs; why the property at Stobs could not be used as an artillery range; and for what purposes it is now used?

Mr. HALDANE

The distance in a bee line from Stobs to the site proposed for the new range is about thirty miles. Stobs is unsuitable for an artillery range, as the maximum length is only 7,000 yards. It is now used for rifle range and training.
