HC Deb 15 March 1911 vol 22 c2408W
Mr. MacVEAGH

asked the Chief Secretary whether he can say if the Charles Sheils Charity Trust is being administered in Carrickfergus, Armagh, and Dungan-non in accordance with the will of the founder; and whether, in view of the fact that the trustees are promoting a Bill in this Session, he will ascertain how many of each religious denominations are to be found respectively on the local boards of management and amongst the recipients of the charity?

Mr. BIRRELL

This charity is regulated by Acts of Parliament passed in 1864, 1866, and 1875, and is not in any way under the control of the Irish Government. An amending Bill is being promoted by the trustees in the present Session of Parliament. I have no information as to the administration of the charity. The offices of the charity are at 25, Clare Street, Dublin, and the secretary would probably be able to give the hon. Member any information he may require on the subject.
