HC Deb 15 March 1911 vol 22 cc2417-8W
Mr. POINTER

asked the Prime Minister if his attention had been called to the widespread distress, accmpanied in some cases by the ruin of small investors, which has been occasioned by the failure of the Charing Cross Bank; and whether the Government propose to strengthen the law, with a view to preventing such occurrences in the future?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The circumstances to which the bon. Member alludes are generally known to me, but His Majesty's Government are not in a position to consider the introduction of legislation.
