Sir WILLI AMBULLasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs for how many years the Helouan (Egypt) Development Company had been in existence when the mixed court of first instance declared that the said company was null and void because it had not complied with the requirements of Egyptian law as laid down in the mixed commercial code; whether he will state what the requirements were which it is alleged were not complied with; and whether any diplomatic action was taken, or is taking place, on the subject?
§ Sir EDWARD GREYThe company in question was registered in England as a joint stock company on 1st December, 1906. I have not received a copy of the judgment of the mixed court in Egypt, which was delivered in May, 1908, and cannot say what the precise legal requirements were which were not complied with. His Majesty's Government do not consider that there is any need for such action at present.
