§ Mr. HOLTasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether there is any legal definition of manual labour for the purposes of Schedule 1, Part II., paragraph (f), of the National Insurance Bill; and, if so, where such definition can be found?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEThe same expression as that referred to in the question is used in the Employers and Workmen Act, 1875, and also in Section 13 of the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1906, and has already been the subject of several decisions in the courts. It has not been thought necessary to insert a statutory definition in the Bill.
