§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGESmall societies which adopt this course will pool one-half of any surpluses which they may realise, but will, of course, gain the advantage of being able to draw on the pool in the case of a deficit. I may perhaps point out that the smaller the society the less applicable is the law of averages, and therefore the greater the fluctuations in its sickness experience.
