HC Deb 05 July 1911 vol 27 cc1301-2W
Mr. CHARLES BATHURST

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether application has been made to him to authorise the abolition of the ancient sheep and cattle fair which has for many generations been held annually in November at Appleshaw, in the county of Hants; and, if so, whether, in view of the reputation of this fair and the trade in sheep which is carried on there, he will decline to accede to the above application, if satisfied that local sheep-breeders and traders would suffer seriously in consequence?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Notices of the proposed abolition of this fair have been published in the local papers; and, before coming to a decision in the matter, I will consider carefully any representations against the closing of the fair that are addressed to me.
