HC Deb 27 February 1911 vol 22 c178W
Mr. WEIR

asked the Lord Advocate, in view of the fact that arm-to-arm vaccination has long since been abolished in England with satisfactory results, will the Secretary for Scotland take such steps as may be necessary to secure its abolition in Scotland?

The LORD ADVOCATE

The practice of arm-to-arm vaccination is almost, if not quite, obsolete in Scotland, but it could not be directly abolished without further legislation. The Local Government Board invariably recommend the use of glycerinated calf lymph and supply it free of charge to parish vaccinators. I may add that during the last two years no applications for humanised lymph were received by the Department.
