HC Deb 21 February 1911 vol 21 c1877W
Mr. LUNDON

asked the Chief Secretary whether it is the intention of the Estates Commissioners to reinstate Michael O'Rourke, Bohernagore, Kilmallock, in the holding he was evicted from on the estate of Colonel Lowe, Sunville, Ardpatrick, county Limerick; and, whether, having regard to the harsh circumstances under which this man was evicted, steps will be taken to provide him with an equivalent as soon as possible?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners received an application from Michael O'Rourke seeking reinstatement in a holding formerly occupied by him on the Lowe Estate. His application was received after 1st May, 1907, the date mentioned in the Evicted Tenants (Ireland) Act, 1907, and could not, therefore, be dealt with under that Act. The Commissioners may be able to consider his case when they are dealing with the estate on which his former holding is situated.
