HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 c1422W
Mr. O'SHEE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether there is anything in International Law to prevent Parliament from increasing the limit of the area within which steam trawling is prohibited to five miles instead of three miles from low-water mark?

Sir E. GREY

It would be contrary to a generally accepted principle of International Law to prohibit foreign fishing vessels from trawling beyond three miles from low-water mark.
