HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 cc1422-3W
Mr. MOLLOY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that dissatisfaction exists in Carlow at the delay in the completion of the works of the telephone service; whether he is aware that over twelve months ago the Secretary of the General Post Office wrote from Dublin that they were only awaiting the authority of the Treasury in order to commence the work without delay; and whether he will take the necessary steps to obtain the authority of the Treasury in order to have the work proceeded with?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Proposals for the extension of the telephone system to Carlow under guarantee have been before the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury for some time. Pending receipt of their Lordships' authority I regret I am unable to put the work in hand.
