HC Deb 13 February 1911 vol 21 c818W
Mr. LONSDALE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury, what was the amount paid by the Treasury last year in grants for the assistance of secondary education in England and Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, respectively?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

Grants for secondary-education are not as a rule paid direct by the Treasury, and I regret, therefore, to be unable to give the hon Member the information desired. As different educational systems are in operation in the three countries, a comparative statement of the sums expended on secondary education, would be entirely misleading.
