§ Mr. CLANCYasked the Chief Secre- to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, with reference to the reductions made in the payments out of the Irish Local Taxation Account in aid of the cost of the maintenance of papuper lunatics and other local services in Ireland, whether the Government have yet come to a decision on the question of making good the amounts by which the grants hitherto made for those purposes have been reduced; and, if so, whether an announcement on the subject can now be made, in view of the fact that the local authorities in Ireland are now estimating their expenditure for the coming local financial year and are at present at a loss to know how they stand in the matter?
