§ Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the cost would be to extend the Old Age Pensions Act to all those persons who are estimated to become compulsorily insured under the National Insurance Bill in the first year of its operation?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEI think the meaning of the paragraph from which the 2679W hon. Member extracts half a sentence is clear. It was intended to bring out the reason why it is possible to make the weekly insurance payments much smaller here than in Germany. I expect that substantially all persons compulsorily insured under the Government scheme are likely to be eligible for old age pensions.
