§ Dr. CHAPPLEasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he would enter into communication with the British Cotton-growing Association with a view to having the proposed visit of a deputation to the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan extended to the cotton-growing territories of British East Africa and Nyasaland?
Mr. HARCOURTI am in constant communication with the association on the subject of cotton growing in the British Protectorates in East Africa, and they are well aware that, if they considered it necessary in the interests of the industry to send a deputation to any of those Protectorates, I should be glad to facilitate the visit by all the means at my disposal. They have recently been in personal communication here with Mr. McCall, the Director of Agriculture of Nyasaland, who is home on leave.
