Mr. KINGasked the President of the Board of Education whether his attention has been given to the refusal of many education authorities to employ married female teachers; and, having regard to the desirability of attracting women to the teaching profession and of placing no bar against their subsequent marriage, whether he will instruct local authorities that this practice cannot be allowed to continue?
§ Mr. J. A. PEASEIt is within the discretion of local education authorities to decide whom they will employ in their schools, and I do not think it would be desirable, even if I had the power, for me to issue instructions to them in the matter.
