§ Mr. COWANasked the hon. Member for Southampton, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if he can say what would be the cost of installing indicators showing the names of speakers in the galleries of the House; and whether, the funds at his disposal being inadequate 2339W to enable him to afford this convenience to the public, he will approach the Treasury in order to obtain the amount required?
Mr. DUDLEY WARDThe cost of supplying and fixing an indicator is about £80; and there will be a charge of £25 yearly for its maintenance—to be borne by the Vote of the Serjeant-at-Arms. The First Commissioner does not think the case merits a special appeal to the Treasury.
