asked what is the number of reformatories and industrial schools for boys and girls, respectively, in Great Britain; and upon how many of the boards of management of these institutions are there women as managers?

There are also three mixed industrial schools in England, one of which has ladies on the General Committee, while the two others are managed by sisterhoods. In Scotland, there is one mixed school, which has a special ladies' committee. In two English girls' reformatories ladies are appointed as official visitors; and in the case of a boys' industrial school a ladies' visiting committee is appointed annually.
