HC Deb 04 April 1911 vol 23 cc2169-70W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the President of the Local Government Board if in those unions where the outdoor relief regulation order is in force it is the custom for boards of guardians to grant outdoor relief to persons over sixty years of age without requiring a medical certificate of unfitness for work?

Mr. BURNS

I cannot say that there is any definite rule among boards of guardians as to the precise age when disability on grounds of age is presumed to begin, though I understand that in some unions the attainment of the age of sixty has been looked upon as implying disability.
