§ Sir E. GOULDINGasked the Post master-General whether, in provincial towns, the eight hours which postmen are supposed to work necessitates their commencing work at six o'clock in the morning, putting in a second spell at mid-day, and finishing off with a third spell at ten o'clock in the evening?
§ Mr. PEASEThe arrangement of postmen's attendances necessarily varies according to the requirements of each case. I have no knowledge of any attendances arranged as indicated in the question and414W shall be glad if the right hon. Baronet will supply particulars of any such case that has been brought to his notice. It is my wish to improve attendances as far as circumstances permit, particularly in large towns.
