HC Deb 21 March 1910 vol 15 c924W
Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can state why, although a report has been presented by Commander Fredericks to the effect that certain land at Sea View, Isle of Wight, is Crown property, being seashore, some residents are still precluded from it through the action of a neighbouring landowner deposing that he had manorial rights over it; and whether he can take any action in the matter?

Mr. BUXTON:

The report by Captain Fredericks referred to by the hon. Member did not deal with the question of the ownership of the foreshore at Sea View, but with the question whether certain works were above or below the line of high water of ordinary tides. Although the shore below that line isprimâ faciethe property of the Crown, claims adverse to the Crown have been put forward, and are being investigated.
