asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he could state what action, if any, had been taken by the Congested Districts Board in the matter of providing fishing facilities and road improvements in South Kerry, in accordance with the representations which have been made?

Mr. BIRRELL:

The Congested Districts Board at their last meeting increased their grant for a pier at Cooscroum to £l,200, the county council voting the balance of £300. The county council are making arrangements for starting the work. At the same meeting the Board increased their grant for Cahirciveen Pier to £323, the county council voting the balance of £444. The Board are also engaged in rock-clearance work at Trawagginaun, on the island of Valentia. Up to the present nothing further has been arranged for in South Kerry.
