Mr. BUXTONI have no information which would enable me to give a definite reply to this question. The Noble Lord will, however, find some information which may help him to frame some estimate of the nature he requires in the "Review of the Trade of India in 1908–9," published by the Indian Commercial Intelligence Department, which gives certain particulars as to the character of the imports into India and of the production of Indian spindles and looms, and shows that over 90 per cent. of the imports of both yarns and piece goods came from the United Kingdom.
