§ Mr. RUNCIMANI have consulted with the Treasury, and I fear that in present circumstances, and pending further experience as to the mortality of teachers, and the sufficiency of the fund to discharge existing liability, no useful purpose would be served by an inquiry, departmental or other, into the points referred to, and I am unable to entertain any such proposal.
