§ Mr. LONGasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been directed to the Report of the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into the claims of the Scottish Universities for additional assistance from the public revenues; and whether, in considering the recommendations made in that Report, he will also give favourable consideration to the claim which was pressed upon the Government when The Irish Universities Act, 1908, was under discussion in this House, and which has since been renewed in correspondence with the Irish Executive, in favour of an annual Grant of £5,000 to the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland?

I shall be prepared to give careful consideration to any representations on behalf of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, which my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary may think fit to make to me on the subject.
