§ Mr. HENNIKER HEATONasked the Postmaster-General whether his attention had been directed to the increasing number of complaints of missing letters sent through the post during the past few years; what is the number of postal officials who have been dismissed, or whose services have been dispensed with, for irregularities each year during the past ten years.
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELI cannot accept the hon. Member's suggestion that the number of complaints of missing letters sent through the post is increasing. The number of postal officials who have been dismissed, or whose services have been dispensed with for dishonesty during the period of ten years ended March 31st, 1909, is shown in the table below. I have also added the total number of postal packets dealt with and the total number of the staff employed.
