HC Deb 25 April 1910 vol 17 cc205-6W
Mr. DUFFY

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that the Sharpe estate, Kinvarra, county Galway, is being sold to the tenants; whether it is proposed to exclude, any portion of the estate from the benefits of the sale; whether his attention has been called to the fact that a public meeting was held recently at Kinvarra, addressed by the priests of the parish and the Member of Parliament for the Division; and whether, in view of the admitted power of the Land Act to facilitate the transfer in ownership of town holdings, quite as well as agricultural holdings, he will direct the attention of the Congested Districts Board to the circum- stances connected with the demand put forward by the town tenants for the acquirement of their houses on the Sharpe estate?

Mr. BIRRELL

My attention has been called to the meeting referred to. As regards the remainder of the question, I have nothing to add to my reply to a question on the same subject asked by the hon. Member on the 1st instant.
