HC Deb 25 April 1910 vol 17 cc194-5W
Mr. JOHN O'DONNELL

asked the Chief Secretary whether he will now state what the intentions of the Congested Districts Board are regarding the O'Donel estate, near Newport, county Mayo; whether that body has made any offer to purchase this estate offered for sale in the Land Judge's Court; and whether, seeing that there is a considerable addition to the income of the Board for improvement works and other purposes, they will take the necessary steps to acquire this large area of grass lands and have the same divided up into suitable sized holdings and given to persons in the district who are so much in need of land?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have for some time been in treaty for the purchase of the O'Donel estate in the Land Judge's Court, and I understand that the negotiations are proceeding satisfactorily.
