§ Mr. DOUGLAS HALLasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been called to the financial burdens thrown upon the local authorities by recent Acts of Parliament affecting public elementary education; and whether in framing the Budget for the financial year 1910–11 he will consider the advisability of making provision for the relief of local rates by increasing the grants for education from the Imperial Exchequer to the local authorities?
