§ Colonel SEELYThere has been no expenditure from the Treasury in respect of land settlement in South Africa since the war. The cost of the scheme in the Transvaal and Orange River Colony has been met from the guaranteed loan, two and a half millions of which have been devoted to this purpose. There are at present in the Orange River Colony 625 settlers occupying 690,428 morgen, and in the Transvaal 450 settlers occupying, approximately, 900,000 acres.
