§ Mr. KIRKWOODasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the coast line between Brad-well-on-Sea and Burnham-on-Crouch, in Essex, is only patrolled by coastguardsmen once a month; and whether he will consider the necessity for strengthening the patrol system in view of the uninhabited condition of the coast between those two places?
Mr. BUXTONI understand that the arrangement referred to in the question is in force at the places named. As I have already stated, I am giving the question of coast watching careful attention, and am taking active steps by local investigations and otherwise to ascertain whether the existing arrangements require strengthening. This stretch of shore will therefore, be carefully examined in due course, but, owing to the character of the coast, wrecks are not likely to occur there.
