HC Deb 20 April 1910 vol 16 cc2273-4W
Mr. O'SHEE

asked the Chief Secretary whether a man named O'Donnell who, in 1904, became the new tenant of a holding at Whitechurch and Churchquarter, county Waterford, on the estate of Lord Huntingdon, signed an agreement to purchase the holding under the Land Act of 1903; whether such an agreement was lodged with the Estates Commissioners; what was the amount of advance applied for therein; whether the whole or any portion of the advance applied for has been sanctioned by the Estates Commissioners, and how much; and whether the amount sanctioned, if any, has been paid over to the vendor?

Mr. BIRRELL

An agreement signed by Michael O'Donnell for the purchase of his holding on the estate of the Earl of Huntingdon for the sum of £2,154 was lodged on 15th April, 1905. The Estates Commissioners refused to make the advance applied for, as the limitations of advances imposed by Section 53 of the Irish Land Act, 1903, applied to the case.
