§ Mr. JOHN O'CONNORasked the total amount of the Grants made from Imperial funds for the purpose of public education in England, Ireland, and Scotland respectively for the year 1909–10; the estimated or actual population of these countries in the middle of the year 1909; and the cost per head of the population for public education for the three countries respectively?
The HON. MEMBER also asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he will give for the year 1909–10 for each of the three countries, England, Ireland, and Scotland, respectively (a) the number of pupils on the rolls of public, elementary, and primary schools; (b) the number on secondary and technical schools that receive grants from Imperial funds; (c) the grants paid to schools under (b)?
Mr. O'CONNORfurther asked the cost of public education in Scotland for 1909–10 under the following heads, as defrayed out of Imperial funds: administration, inspection, elementary schools, continuation classes, secondary schools, and training of teachers; and the cost of public education in Ireland for the same period under the following heads, as defrayed out of public funds: administration, inspection, training colleges, model schools, national schools, manual and practical instruction, teachers' residences, school grant, and teachers' pensions fund (grant in aid of)?
