§ Mr. HUGH LAWasked whether the attention of the Treasury has been called on various occasions to the desirability of opening a station on the Burtonport 1197W Railway at Meenhanid, county Donegal, in order to promote the fishing industry; whether he is aware, that the railway company has agreed to bear part of the cost of this additional station; whether the Treasury is prepared to co-operate in the matter; and, if so, whether any steps can be taken before the opening of the May herring fishing?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEI have agreed to an arrangement by which a new station at Meenhanid will be erected at an estimated cost of £873, to be met out of the surplus receipts of the Burtonport Railway, in which the Treasury and the working company have an equal interest. I am informed that it cannot be stated when that amount will accrue, but certainly not before next month.
