§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Culture, Media and Sport (Lord McIntosh of Haringey)Section 19 of the Human Rights Act 1998 requires the Minister in charge of a Bill in either50WS House of Parliament to make a statement, before Second Reading, about the compatibility of the provisions of the Bill with the convention rights (as defined in Section 1 of that Act).
I am the Minister in charge of the Income Tax (Trading and Other Income) Bill in the House of Lords.
On 9 March 2005 I made the following statement under Section 19(1)(a) of the Human Rights Act 1998.
"In my view the provisions of the Income Tax (Trading and Other Income) Bill are compatible with the convention rights".
